“A product is great when it just works. Great products reliably do the thing that they say they are going to do. They do it quickly. I should never be aware that I’m waiting. They don’t require an explanation or in-depth, copy-based onboarding. They just work.

You know, people think that delight is about confetti and animation. And I think customer delight comes when something just works.”

EP80 – Credit Karma Associate Director of Product Management on Building Great Products

In today’s world, our technology is becoming more personable, accurate, and intuitive. Thousands of tasks and errands can be completed at the push of a button, a simple voice command, or some other physical action. However, what are the methods and best approaches to creating people-focused tech products? In this episode of Product Talk, Anthony Atlas sat down with Christina Lucey, Associate Director of Product Management at Credit Karma, to discuss what goes into conceiving a new product.

“The excitement and anticipation of launching things never goes away. At least not for me. And that’s certainly a part of it. But what I really appreciate about product management is that it’s such a dynamic role. So there are just there’s like no end to like, what you can learn whether it is in like the advancement of ways of building things and innovation, whether it’s like leaning in the leadership aspects of the product, whether it’s getting to know new industries and new customers, it’s really just sort of like this wide-open space.

And there’s just like constantly opportunities to learn. And so for me right now, I think I am just like very, very interested in how to scale what I know about crafting products, to how to build really motivated successful teams, how to create a product-focused culture, what makes a good strategy.”

EP82 – Heap CEO and Facebook fmr Product Lead on Analytics meets Product

In today’s world, technology is becoming more personable, accurate, and intuitive. Thousands of tasks & errands can be completed at the push of a button, a simple voice command, or some other physical action. However, what are the methods & best approaches to creating people-focused tech products? In this episode of Product Talk, Anthony Atlas sat down with Matin Movassate, CEO at Heap and fmr Product Lead at Facebook, to discuss how data analytics can help product managers throughout the product lifecycle.

“Leadership looks like great Product Management. What I mean by that is a bad leader would be one who justifies their decisions because of their position. Like, I’m the CEO, you should do what I say. We should pursue this initiative because I said so is not very inspiring leadership.

I think great leaders share the context that drives alignment and empowers others to make the decisions and the calls themselves. And to me, that is exactly analogous to the mandate of a PM. They should disseminate the context that allows others to know exactly what and why, why we do what we do, and why we need to do those things.”
