Box CPO on Impact at Best Scale (Part 3)
There are two features that make an impact at best scale and prevent common issues that companies face when introducing new products. It is very easy to over-engineer a product with too many features. To drive effectiveness and reach more customers, product managers must focus on keeping things simple.
Deliver the highest amount of value with the lowest amount of features.
Every time you add a feature, you add debt to your bottom line. This is why it’s so important to drive the most value with your product.
Define the product profile and keep your product simple.
Make sure you’re not creating too much complexity with your product. Many companies fail when they make overbuilt products with a cluttered experience and don’t fully understand who the audience is for their product.
It’s like Mark Twain said, “I wrote you a short letter because I didn’t have time to write a long one.” Building a simple experience can be harder than creating a complex experience. When you look at any successful product, keeping it simple is what drives impact at best scale.
