How is AI transforming design collaboration in product management? Just as they partner with developers, effective PMs also partner closely with designers to realize outcomes through new releases. But just as engineers are beginning to code with AI assistance, designers also have a number of new AI tools available to work more efficiently. In this webinar, Dan Hammaker will speak with Gyroscope AI Managing Partner and University of Texas Adjunct Professor of Visual Communication Joe Meersman about UX/UI in the age of AI. This session will review existing PM/design collaboration patterns and their pitfalls, followed by a discussion on how AI tools can help address these challenges and enhance efficiency. Don’t miss this insightful conversation on the evolving dynamics of PM/design partnerships in the AI era.

Show Notes:
- AI can be a fantastic equalizer, as long as people don’t worry about others staying in their lane.
- The future of job roles will likely reward people who can market their ability to wear multiple hats.
- There is no one-size-fits-all approach to product management – it depends on the context and organization size.
- Minors and majors are important in skill development, and AI can support the acquisition of minors.
- Integration with existing platforms is key when adopting new AI tools.
- AI tools are like fashion – they come and go, so it’s important not to get too attached to any one tool.
- Enabling and training users on AI tools is crucial for adoption and usage.
- Behavioral modeling from leadership is important to encourage the use of AI tools.
- Experimentation with clear goals and hypotheses is key when using AI tools.
- Avoiding “AI vanity projects” and focusing on solving real problems is important.
- AI is good at problems informed by data, but not at truly wicked problems or those requiring intuition.
- AI can be used to curate ideas and concepts, and for tight edits and revisions.
- Agents and hybrid environments of agents and large language models are the future of AI development.
- Agents should be focused on clear demonstrative value, not just surfing the internet.
- There is no silver bullet solution in technology – experimentation and sharing learnings are key.
- AI can accelerate conversations and help determine the viability of design solutions.
- AI can support tasks like collating user research, generating code, and evaluating design options.
- Embracing AI as a tool, not a replacement, is important to avoid getting “fat and lazy.”
- Continuous learning and adaptation are necessary as AI tools and capabilities evolve.
- Collaboration and cross-disciplinary understanding are crucial in the AI-enabled future of product development.
